Kansha
The mind heart of unconditional gratitude

For the first time in Melbourne, Italian Oki-Do Yoga Master and

Oki Do is a unique synthesis of oriental wisdom and practical self

strengthening, corrective exercises, laughter, meditation, chanting,

Consciously cultivating natural body, mind and breath as the basis of

"In 1978, I left my career in law and insurance to explore the healing path. I spent 6 months in
Boston at Kushi Institute, studied hatha-yoga in India and in japan with Master Masahiro Oki, the founder of Oki-Do( 6 months
training and oki yoga instructor certification). I spent 7 Years in Switzerland at the International Macrobiotic
Institute (IMI Kiental) teaching yoga and at their shiatsu school. I have been a guest teacher in several
European countries including Germany, Austria and Poland.
In Melbourne I will share my knowledge of and lead explorations of asanas, corrective exercises, dynamic
exercises, partner, group and individual excercises. It will be a day of laughter. My teaching style is straightforward and direct, respecting the  different level of experience of participants..."
                       Vittoria Calogero, March 2005

------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Thursday 7th April 2005, there will be a Miso Hungry Melbourne
Community Dinner to celebrate Vittorio's visit to Melbourne.

Places are limited for this event. Book early to avoid disappointment.
Contact me by email
ilanit_tof@humanifesto.org or telephone 03 9759 6800 to book.

The venue is the absolutely delightful restaurant Bok Choy Tang. I am
delighted to say that my family and I discovered this treasure in
Federation Square before it became known and received its well deserved
rave reviews. The cuisine is northern Chinese with a delightful modern
interpretation. Northern Chinese cuisine is distinctly different from
what most Westerners expect from a Chinese restaurant. Wholefooders and
Macrobiotic affectionados will delight in the unrefined Black Rice (not
Thai Sticky black rice) that is the grain staple. There are plenty of
fresh vegetable dishes and innovative vegetarian fare like the Tofu
chest and the un-missable spring onion pancakes. Fish is a speciality
and for those who include animal products there are plenty of organic
and/or free range choices in pork, poultry and eggs. There is an
emphasis on organics throughout the menu.

The decor, service and ambience complete the experience.
Participants are responsible for the selection of their meals and
payment. Serving sizes are generous and prices are reasonable and in
accordance with good quality cuisine in the CBD. For more information

To keep with my Italian theme in celebration of Vittorio's visit, I will
announce the Macrobiotic Pizza Competition coming soon to the recipe
contest webpage at Cybermacro.

Although the current competition of health cookie recipes is currently
running, you are welcome to put on your pizza chef apron and submit your
recipes for the ultimate macrobiotic quality Pizza at this forum. I
can't wait to see the results!

The currant (which could be a cookie ingredient! ;-) competition is the
Cookie Monster recipe contest. You can check out my entry which is from
my forthcoming cookbook Seasonal Variation: Falling into Balance

A Rising Health Risk
Another recent addition to the Cybermacro community forum is an article
by my friend and mentor in the US, Dorcas Gerace, who is a macrobiotic
and Jin Shin Jyutsu long time student and practitioner and always has
words of wisdom for me. I am so glad to have an online place to send
people now to read this very important article.

Italian Cuisine without Nightshade Vegetables?
Many people realize the possible difficulties that consuming nightshade
"vegetables" regularly can create in the body. Many people embarking on
a meatless lifestyle or reducing animal products in their diets, find
themselves consuming many dishes that heavily feature nightshades
(including potato, tomato, eggplant). Restaurants seem to use them a
great deal in vegetarian dishes. While tasty, they seem to energetically
and physically complement animal food based dishes in how they affect
the body, being more expansive and mineral depleting in their nature.
Although they can be used medicinally and I have great respect for the
baked potato that saved my life when I was ill last year, you can read
more about the issues with nightshades in macrobiotic literature (Food
and Healing by Annemarie Colbin, Food Energetics by Steve Gagne and
Healing with Wholefoods by Paul Pitchford are some books with good
references on them) and online.

http://www.cybermacro.com/Macrobiotic_Articles/CyberMacro/Nightshade_Vegetables/

While whipping up baked parsnip chips and millet "mashed potatoes" is a
cinch, many people miss the taste of a tomato based sauce to serve with
noodles, polenta or macrobiotic/wholefood versions of lasagne.
There are many versions of he macrobiotic mock tomato sauce. I have
tasted some amazing ones over the years, often prompting me to enquire,
"are you sure this isn't the real deal?!"

here is a great recipe with that idea in mind.....

Thermomix
If you already have a Thermomix you can quickly grind whole corn into
the freshest cornmeal imaginable and make the best Poienta this side of
Italy. I could not get over the difference between it and store bought
cornmeal/polenta. Wow!
Some grain mills have trouble with corn kernals, but the Thermomix makes
light work if it and then of course, cleans itself! Thermomix, where
have you been all my life?

April also sees the return of Thermomix whiz Grace Mazur to Melbourne
for some amazing wholefood cooking demonstrations using the Thermomix.
As a link to our Italian theme, the Thermomix is so popular in Italy
that over 20 cookbooks just in Italian have been published. It is one of
the countries leading cooking appliances and tops the lists for wedding
presents.
If you would like to attend a free Thermomix demonstration in Melbourne,
please email me to register your interest as places may be limited.
I will keep you updated with some other guest appearance in Melbourne. I
hear that Momo, the revered Asian wholefood/organic chef has fallen in
love with the Thermomix and will soon be in Melbourne to whip up some
magic with it. Just wait till you hear about some of the dishes that are
Momo's speciality and that are so easy to make in the Thermomix!

If you don't have a grain mill, it is an item that will get a lot of use
in a wholefood kitchen. Check out the options online. There are lots to
choose from.

http://www.simply-natural.biz/cookware-grain-mills.php

Soon I will have access to some great grain mills downunder. Stay tuned
for more info or email me for information!

another nice thing to have on hand if you enjoy fresh and healthy meals
is a pasta maker. They are a lot more affordable and easy to use than
they used to be.

http://www.simply-natural.biz/Regina-Pasta-Extruder.php

I have just received this news flash.

With this machine, you can make perfect pasta, 5 types, in your own
home! As a newsletter only special, use coupon Pasta at Checkout and
receive $10.00 off its regular price of $25.99. This price includes
shipping, and note that some other online retailers are selling this
same machine for over $50.00, not including shipping.

Use the code word MACRO and you will receive a free macrobiotic treat
with your purchase. Who need dessert?

Energy Egg

I have personally bought, tested, tried out and been disappointed with
almost every subtle energy, electromagnetic protection and energy
enhancing device that I have come across. The intentions are good,
however most of these products fall way short of their claims and did
little or nothing to help. And they offer a false sense of security that
you are protected from electrosmog and other supposedly harmful
influences. I have also worked with using intention and strengthening
the body and infinite Being's own energies which is another possibly
important factor.
However when confronted with some challenging health and energetic
obstacles, I lived in the question of how best to proceed and was
answered by being put in touch with an amazing couple in the UK who more
than practise and live by what they teach. They have developed the
Energy Egg. Although I can attempt to convey its propertied, the
experiences I have had with it since it hatched into my life have been
beyond mere words to describe.
Not only does this innovative and practical (you don't have to carry it
around with you are wear it etc) product protect you from all that and
other harmful sources of Chi, it actually starts to work with your own
energies to strengthen and fortify them while not imposing any
artificial field or energies onto your own. (Many other "devices" that
purport to have these protective properties  have been shown to actually
impose highly disruptive influences that ultimately weaken and
compromise the physical and psychological health of the person using it.)

If you are in Melbourne you can contact me for more information or click
here

to learn more and try it out for yourself.

The amazingly insightful inventors of this product who I have been very
privileged to be working with and being mentored by also have developed
The Perfect Pendulum which has completely reorganized my understanding
of Life and the Guardian Angel which can be used in conjunction with The
Energy Egg.

If you would like to learn more about The School Of Energy Awareness and
Stephen and Lynda Kane and how to cultivate your own life force check
out their comprehensive manual which really should be issued to every
Being upon incarnating so that we can all learn how to take care of our
life and health from the word Go!
